It is beautifully situated for anglers and non-anglers alike, with a multitude of activities available for everyone.  With a handful of great lodges at the ready, each with their own great home fishing and unique ambiance, visitors are often intrigued with making their own custom itineraries. This is a great idea, and one which we can make possible for you. Lodges in the region include Spring Creek Lodge, Estancia San Huberto, Estancia Tipiliuke, Estancia Collon Cura, and Estancia Arroyo Verde.

The San Martin region of Argentina is famous amongst anglers worldwide as the place where flyfishing in Argentina started. It is here that famous anglers of the past would come, and eventually make South America a destination all had heard of. Mel Krieger, Ernie Schwiebert, and Lefty Krey amongst others all frequented San Martin.

Around San Martin del los Andes anglers and lodges have great resources from which to choose their fishing. Each lodge has home water, but they all know what is going on from week  to week, and when conditions or hatches will make them want to visit another fishery. Moving water is certainly most common, but there is also some very good lake fishing in the region. Anglers have excellent chances at Big Browns during the Fall spawn in the rivers and in lake outlets or bocas. Some of the famous waters around San Martin include the Malleo River, the Chimehuin, and the Collon Cura.

Most visitors to this region of Argentina will land in and even stay a night to two in lovely Buenos Aires. From BA, flights take around 3 hours to reach the towns of Bariloche or San Martin, both of which have airports. Flights to San Martin fly less often, but get travelers to their location more quickly as drive time is only 45-90 minutes to any of the lodges. Drive time from Bariloche is longer (from 1 - 3 hours) but this great resort town is worth a visit. All in all, anglers will be hard-pressed to find better trout fishing anywhere in the world. In addition, this region is a great choice for those wanting a trip to satisfy both their angling desires and the interests of non-anglers.
